A note from the director, Denice Hicks:

In addition to a Shakespearan monologue, I am asking for a prepared bird, fowl or bee courtship ritual dance. Why, you might ask?  Welll...
I see this as a play about the birds and the bees (figuratively) and about how human nature is not unlike any other kind of nature--it has an undeniable power! I used the term "courtship" for the dance, because I am hoping nobody thinks I want to see them simulating mating!  (yeek!  that would make for some very uncomfortable auditions)
Birds move in very specific ways when they are interested in another bird.   Using their movements and behaviorisms will help us create a physical vocabulary for the show, because there is a lot of flirting (but no consummation) in this play. It will be a heightened comedy, a style, that will be inspired by nature. Doing a courtship ritual dance will give everybody auditioning an imagined focal point (the other bird) but for the show I will have the couples work together to create their own vocabulary and synchronicities.
Youtube and National Geographic offers a wealth of research on the subject. It's all about fun and intentional foolery!
